Is this a rip off or what????.......

Ok so I know I will probably get quite a bit of back lash for saying this BUT after reading the Shabby Chic Blog & seeing these so sweet signs I decided well I just had to have one. Ok so click on the link, go straight to postage cost & nearly burst in to tears when I find it is $50US to post to AUS! Ok so think to myself being a bit ripped off on postage here but what the hell. Go back into item & nearly fall off my chair to find a sign telling me to *Keep Calm And Carry On* costs $295.00US. SOOOOOOOOO I was no longer calm & simply could not carry on, I mean GET REAL, I will make my own little sign telling myself to keep calm & to carry on!. Sorry Rachel, (NO I AM NOT) but I do not appreciate being ripped off, I still have all your books, which I read all the time, I have your curtains, etc etc, etc, but I will not buy from your on line store! I do not like to think I have been ripped off!. Oh by the way, if anyone can tell me where to buy RA fabric at wholesale price, please let me know!
Have a great night, & hope you have not been ripped off tonight.

Hi Sweetie...
Thanks for entering my competition... but unfortunately the answer that I was looking for was teddy bears!
By the way... I have seen some of these posters on some fellow english bloggers... in the past!
I`m sure that I wrote it down on my "Blog Book"...wich website to purchase from!
Unfortunately, there`s so much on my book... that it may take me a while to find it!LOL
As soon as I have, I will let you know!
I think they are really cheap, over here!
I`m off now... and will speak to you soon!

Don't feel bad...I wanted a Cath Kidson bag....postage is $50 for any item coming to the US too.

I decided I will wait until the USA Kath Kitson site is up and running....maybe Rachel needs an international site too. She has a blog....you can always tell her LOL

I see so many lovely treasures from Aussie gals but the shipping sort of puts a damper on my buying....and I am sure it is vice versa for you.

So....I will dream of Kath Kidson but someday I will own a bag without paying $50 for shipping :)

YOU CAN BUY THESE POSTERS ON ETSY FROM A SHOP CALLED "BLU LIMA" I BOUGHT ONE AGES AGO FOR $20 AND POST WAS ONLY ABOUT $5. I GOT A HUGE SHOCK TO SEE THAT RACHEL WAS CHARGING SOOOO MUCH FOR SOMETHING THAT IS ONLY PRINTED FROM AN ORIGINAL WAR TIME POSTER. WHAT GREED EH??

maybe as the other girls say..try and make your own..although sometimes that is easier said than done!!
take care..xx andrea

Rip Off ??
OOOOH YEAH BABY !!!!

Bit of a joke really isnt it? I wonder if there are people out there silly enough to pay that just because R.A has her name on them. I guess there must be some out there hey...silly silly silly.

Hope you're having a sweet weekend!

Hi Lyn,
I am sending you a Hi5 for saying it like it is! I, like you have all the R.A. books & have looked at her things for inspiration, but that is just down right greed to charge $295 for a poster that as Kathryn said is a copy of something that already exists & not even a one off original. I thought the whole idea of 'shabby chic' was to get things cheap & make them look a million dollars , not the other day around. I hope you get the name of the other places that sell the same sort of thing. Good luck.

Oh that price is RIDICULOUS!! I have been wanting one of these forever too. You know what i just did then - copy and paste and printed one out myself! It looks great and was FREE! It may not be poster size but should look good in a nice frame and hopefully i can "keep calm and carry on", Mel xxx

I agree with you, have done a post also about this on my blog. There is a link to an etsy seller where you can get them for $25.

Hmmmm perhaps the frames are backed in gold plating or something!
I have to agree - for something that is a poster, and a reproduction of an old wartime poster at that - where her people didn't design it exclusively, it's just outrageous. I do love her products, her work, fabrics, homewares - all of it. but this is just crazy.... Though - the $50 shipping is actually reasonable considering there is glass and it would not be light, you'd be surprised what little amount can be shipped for $50 sadly. The biggest part of the rip off is the cost of the print. Well, I think the only thing I'll be able to afford in her store are the $12 crown hooks, if she has any left, LOL! They're almost TOO cheap for Shabby Chic don't you think? Hee hee! Better not let on about that or they'll mark them up before I get there!
