Where did I put those needles & the winner is....

I'm wondering why it is whenever your REALLY need something & I mean NEED here... your unable to go & get it. I have been sewing up a storm until late yesterday arvo when I broke my last 3 needles for my sewing machine (thought I had more but do you think I can find them anywhere) & to really top things off I ran out of cotton which I also thought I had more of! I can hear you all asking so why not just jump in the car & go & get some more???? well see the thing is although I am fast approaching my 50th year - 7 months & 11 days to go - I cannot drive a car..... We only have one fabric shop left in Coffs now which is Spotlight, & whereas it is only a 10 minute walk for me to town, where Spotlight is out at Park Beach I have to catch a bus (which only go on the hour every hour & it was getting time for Dylan to arrive home from school) & what only takes 20 minutes tops to get there, grab what I need if I don't have a look around which is what ALWAYS happens when I go to Spotlight - remember it is the only fabric shop left here - & get back home, it would take 3 hours if I take the bus! Now I realise most of you Ladies out there will be horrified that I cannot drive (I DO have my L's) I have always had a fear of driving don't ask me why just do. My Darlin' took me out a few times last year to the Uni here & I had not problem driving in the car park there but as soon as he suggested driving on the road leading to the car park, well just forget that, what leave my safe little car park (no cars parked there on a Sunday) just not happening I tell you!
So anyway back to the needles & cotton as tonight is late night shopping I have to wait until then to go to Spotlight so today I will be cutting out *stuff* instead of sewing which is really bugging me I can tell you.
Ok so I have had my little whinge for the day now to announce the winner of my giveaway..
Kylie from http://abiteofcountrycupcakes.blogspot.com/ its all yours so I'll be emailing you.

Thanks to everyone who left me a comment I really enjoyed doing this giveaway.

Oh Lyn I hear ya...I bought a new sewing machine a few months ago & when finally got time over the long weekend to do some sewing I couldn't get the damn thing to do the gathering stitch!!! Armed with the manual & the pack in which the gathering foot came in, neither instrustions seemed to work...at this point I was either going to chuck a tantie, tears & all or just start swearing....(I did the latter!!!) I finally got time yesterday to take it back to the lady I bought it off & she finally got it working.
On the driving thing, don't be to hard on yourself. A lady I work with only got her licience 3 years ago at the age of 60 because her beloved husband passed away.
I can't believe that Spotlight is the only fabric shop up in Coffs, when we stopped there about 4 years ago Adam took me to that quilters shop that used to advertise in all the crafty mags.
Maybe that could be a new business venture for you!!!

Congratulations to Kylie.
I hate it when that happens and you are so sure you have more needles and cotton. Those ones you 'did have' will turn up one day

I wanted to win...:(....ACK! :(

Now...about the driving thing. I drive and I love being able to get myself around when I need to. However, if I can get OUT OF IT, I do. If someone else will drive I let them.

The problem is I talk too much and that is NOT GOOD when it comes to paying attention to the road! :(

About Sewing Machine Needles...I never have enough. Just when I think my machine needs servicing my hubby yells from the other room "Have you changed your needle????"

I hate it when he's right.

xooxto you. Thinking of you this very day!

Rebecca

It is terrible to have sewing machine problems when you are using it and needing it. I may not use mine often..but I when I want it...LOL I WANT it!
I know ladies that don't drive. My very best friend was like that for years after we graduated from highschool..and after we got married..then...one day...she just did it. Everyone was amazed..and she zoomed around all over the place. Well..ok..so she didn't really "ZOOM!" But she did drive to places close by..and we praised her and she continuted until lately. Now..I don't think she drives as much. Like you and another family member, she had an unexplained fear of it.
As long as you can get to where you want to go... :) or someone will take you...what the heck!
What a wonderful seamstress you are! VERY cute! And congratulations to the lucky and happy winner!

Congratulations to Kylie - such a worthy winner.

Lyn, it must be so frustrating having to rely on public transport BUT even more frustrating I'm sure not having a variety of patchwork/fabric stores in Coff's.
I hope you have sorted out your needle and cotton problem.
