Starting a new Journey....

For quite some time now I have felt very lost within myself & of no value. I wrote in one of my earlier posts of missing out on my dream job & so decided to enrol in a course to better my chances at obtaining my dream. Truth is I realised last night I have been kidding myself I have read & reread the modules & although I know how to do this work physically, writing it down is another thing. I have had a lot of sleepless nights lately about where on earth my life is going & then it just came to me.... for goodness sake just do what you love most in the world & that is SEW. Ebay kinda put me off so I am really going to take the plunge here & open my own web site! The timing kinda scares me but it is either now or never I reckon.
So I would really appreciate any advise from all you lovely ladies out there that have already found the courage to sell their wares on their own site & someone please tell me I am doing the right thing.....

I followed my heart and my irish instinct and opened up a website as well. It's slow going pretty much all around right now so go slow with building, have faith they will come and don't put all your eggs in one basket. I'm also on etsy. I will no longer list with ebay due to their every changing rules and complete destruction of the small time seller with fees. have you see the fees???? OMGosh, they should be ashamed of themselves.

Follow your heart.

Lyn how wonderful!!!....good for you, I'm looking forward to watching the progress of your website and can well imagine it will be stacked with beautiful goodies. Be patient though, slow and steady wins the race!

I'm a firm believer in "Everything Happens for a reason"

The very best of luck to you Lyn!!

I spoke to my lil' sis, she was meant to be doing a workshop in Coffs today which was cancelled because of the dreadful wet conditions up your way

I think you should go for it!!! Your stuff is beautiful!! It's very rewarding when you sell something that you've made yourself too, and don't get discouraged, there will be hills and valleys. My niece started her own shop not so very long ago with her creations and now she's got so many custom orders it's amazing!! You can do it!!! You'll love every minute of it!!

Dear Lyn...

You are blessed by God my friend. Let your heart dictate to you where and what to do...

Many years ago, after participating in a local Folk Art Fair (and being sucessful there for many seasons), the shoppe where the show was held had an opening (it was kinda a co-op). I applied for it and went through the jurying process for the slot. In the end I didn't get the position and I was devastated. What I didn't realize then was that God had a different plan for my life. Had I been chosen for the shoppe I wouldn't have experienced the beautiful things that FAR exceeded being part of the store.

I went on to own my own shoppe and then several other businesses (including eBay and my website). I still love what I do and feel blessed to work from home.

It is true that the economy isn't great. Sales are on the slower side. But, things ALWAYS get better... One day everything will bounce back to normal...

I do eBay, but only a little. It isn't my favorite place. But, keep in mind it still drives business to your own Site and the fees PALE in comparison to owning a brick and mortar store!

Blessings to you friend...you are very talented. Go with your heart!

I'm excited for you!

Oprah once on her show said make your Job your Passion...
If that is sewing then yes!
Mabey look also at a Market stall,I often sell the most of my stock at markets,Nice classy craft markets ...up -Markets!
And as for ebay the fees seem to average $2 now!
Alot when my items are only like $6-9 anyway.
A website sounds great,I am hopless with Pc's so have no idea how you go about it or Manging one...But all the best with it.
Oztion is a cheap easy way to sell too,And is stepping up in popularity.

hi

i think you should go for it, if you can make it a success now you can make it a success! seeing as it's pretty tough out there, so a perfect place to start, get it all set up, take your time, fiddle with things, and by the time the market picks up you are ready to rock!

something for nothing ebay is what I've heard - perhaps you can still list though to get your early traffic coming in...

Hi Lyn,
You most certainly do have a talent that I don't possess! I would love to be able to sew. I have all kinds of ideas but don't have a clue how to operate a sewing machine and a neeedle and thread bore me. So, you go, girl! I love your pretty creations and I'm sure many others will too!
Have a wonderful day.

Blessings,
Sandi
